What Journey Are YOU On?

What matters more, the journey, or the destination? If you only focus on the journey, you lack direction and motivation, and if you focus solely on your destination, you can miss the life lessons and memories along the way. Plus, you often discover through your journey that your final destination isn’t exactly the same as it was when you started.

John Maxwell Team member Bridgett Krause went on her own journey to find her purpose, and found The John Maxwell Team. “I had studied the personal growth industry for many years and when I attended ‘A Day About Books’ and heard of the John Maxwell Team, it just felt right in my spirit,” remembers Bridgett. “I thought I was joining for my own personal growth, and ended up finding my purpose.”

After joining the team in June of 2012, Bridgett not only found her purpose, but her business and life partner, Ryan. The two band together to add value to their community by working with businesses, nonprofits, churches, schools, and individuals. “The last few years have been quite a stretch for me. I’m getting out of my comfort zone and walking a path I cannot see,” Ryan told us. “That being said, I would not have it any other way. Playing it safe is not fully living. Where there is great risk there is great reward. Even in ‘failure’ there is success. Playing it safe is just not acceptable anymore.”

Since they attended the August 2016 International Maxwell Certification event, Bridgett and Ryan have been busy. They hosted their third annual Live2Lead event, where they helped 400 leaders grow their teams. They also added value to 100 local principals and educational leaders in their community. “I always believed I was destined to make an impact with my life and I had big dreams,” Bridgett told us. “When I was exposed to the teachings of Paul Martinelli, combined with the atmosphere and support of the John Maxwell Team, it gave me the faith to take action on what I believed. That has made all the difference.”

Their business isn’t the only thing that has been positively impacted by both Ryan and Bridgett’s personal growth. “JMT has taught me a tremendous amount about my family,” said Ryan. “I have learned so much about other people, and about other people's perspectives. It has taught me to relate to others in a much more effective and rewarding manner.”

To those starting out on their own personal journey to find their purpose, the couple gave this advice: “Know that this is your journey. It’s a path to follow, not a destination. Once you
realize that you are on a journey of your own, you can stop comparing yourself to others and
celebrate their wins, knowing that yours are coming. Someone else winning helps you, it
doesn't take away from you. There is more than enough for all of us to win.” Are you winning in your life right now? Or are you too busy comparing your life to others and feeling let down? The journey, and the destination, are yours to choose.
