Drew Watkins sees his role as the leader of one of the fastest growing school districts in the state of Texas is to hire the best possible people who have a genuine calling to make a difference in the lives of young people through the educational process. His job as the leader is to provide the necessary support and associated encouragement to achieve the aggressive goals that they have established for their students and their school district. Their primary goal is simple – to provide the best educational experience for every child that comes to them. He is finishing his 29th year in education and 14th year serving as the superintendent of what he touts as the greatest school district in the State of Texas… Prosper ISD. Although this might sound contradictory, he views himself as the least important person in their organization – he believes his responsibility is to lift everyone else up to a level of greatness so that their students can realize the greatest benefit. He emphasizes that the spotlight should always be on the teachers and staff who are directly making the biggest difference for their students – and in his words “tries not to get in their way in the process”.
