So Much More To Learn
One of the most important gifts that a retired U.S. Army officer takes away from serving her country, is the gift of PPG: Perpetual Personal Growth. I have found that the true commitment to learning is a by-product of the quality training that we receive over the years in order to successfully fulfill the needs of our profession. However, the beauty of the training received is revealed through the lives of those whom we serve.
So what did I do with this phenomenal gift post military service? I did like most consummate leadership professionals; I joined the John Maxwell Team (JMT). Joining the John Maxwell Team is definitely one of the best investments that I have ever made in ME. The wisdom and wealth of knowledge, coupled with the fellowship of like-minded individuals, is priceless.
After 23.5 years of serving my country at every level of leadership, clearly, I know how to lead. So, why did I join the John Maxwell Team? The John Maxwell Team has proven instrumental in expanding my boundaries, as it provides the “kind and gentle” leadership qualities of civilian leadership, which most retired military leaders require.
Due to my new adventure, I now know how to “Put My Dreams to the Test,” after so many years of aligning them with mission success. In other words, the team provides the kind of leadership instruction and qualities detached from the familiar operations orders, life and death decisions, and Uniform Code of Military Justice consequences used to motivate me to motivate others.
If I can continue to see personal shortfalls and seek training in a profession with years of experience, what is that one thing that is holding you back from reaching your full potential and employing “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth?”
Are you a leader that has reached a point in your career where leadership training is only something that you give? When was the last time that you received training in your profession as the Leader? Leaders never know everything, and what we know and understand is limited to what and whom we give our attention to… Sounds like you may need a Leadership Booster shot!!!
I can assure you that regardless of how much you know, or think that you know, there is always more to learn. People are counting on us to add value to them – intentionally and unintentionally. It is through our engagement and example that we are “Developing the Leaders Around Us (You).” When we, Leader, get to a point of stagnation due to familiarity, we, Leader, deploy the Law of the Lid and enter into the world of STUCK. The world around us may appear to suggest victory; however, I will tell you that what appears to look like longevity, is in fact, a mirage for a temporary fix.
The beauty of increased knowledge is that it directly collates to the world in which we live. We live in an ever evolving world where, faster, easier, cheaper and convenient rule. If you, the Leader, are stuck in the world of – “we’ve always done it this way,” you are destined to be left behind.
Take a look at your family, business, social, and spiritual walk, and if it looks just like it did last year, you are in desperate need of an intellectual overhaul. Self assessment is your friend…not comparison, or conformity…it is the attitude towards achieving full potential that keeps us moving in the right direction. It only gets ‘better’ when we as Leaders grow and our ‘better’ benefits someone other than ourselves.
If you’re in need of a team of liked-minded people to keep you moving towards your full potential, join the John Maxwell Team and enjoy no regrets, just all INCREASE, because, “Today Matters.”
