“Since our certification in August we have been more motivated than ever in making a positive impact on our family, friends and community”
– Amanda & Rickey Martinez, certified John Maxwell Team Coaches, Speakers & Teachers
What choices are you making daily? As John Maxwell says, “It’s not what you do in a day, it’s what you do daily.” As a leader, it’s important to identify what values you wish to uphold and then strive to live them every day. John Maxwell Team members Amanda and Rickey Martinez not only live their values, but try to demonstrate them for their family and their restaurant staff.
“While attending International Maxwell Certification last August, we learned about JMT DNA. Now, every day we choose to do 3 things: Value people, believe in people, and love people unconditionally,” said Amanda.
Since the August 2016 IMC, the change has made a big impact in their personal lives, and with their staff. “Since our certification in August we have been more motivated than ever in making a positive impact on our family, friends and community,” says Rickey. “John Maxwell’s words about service in the Minute with Maxwell segment had a profound effect on how we approach our daily fulfillment in shaping the world and creating our legacy.”
Amanda agrees, “The experience of IMC had a direct effect on both our business and personal lives. Professionally, it taught us how to become effective leaders, which immediately led to a growth in revenue. Personally, it has taught us how to become better parents and leaders within our community.”
Their new leadership skills have also had a big impact on the workers in their restaurant. They had a leadership breakthrough only weeks after returning from Orlando when they shifted their leadership style to incorporate the things they learned at IMC. “Prior to attending the conference, we would usually have to nag our staff to do tasks that are expected of their job and position.” said Rickey. “After utilizing the different methods we learned to become better leaders, our staff began to take ownership of the restaurant and volunteered to do the same tasks without hesitation.”
The couple offers some sage advice for those just starting on their leadership journey: Be vulnerable, and ready yourself for change. Many times we make excuses for why we can’t do something when instead, we should focus more on the outcome and let the rest fill itself in.
It is always a choice to step up and change something about your life Are you ready to choose a better you this year?
