Real Stories, Real Success:
The Shift that Impacted a Whole Team

RSRS Maggie Jean

Maggie Jean joined the John Maxwell Team without hesitation in 2016.  She was looking for something that could help her “be a better person, a better leader, and someone who could make a good contribution to society.”

Her time with the Team has done just that.

She works full time as a General Manager for a major electronics retailer.  According to Maggie, “My transformation and growth shows up in my team.”

Originally, she admits that, in her role, it was habitual to tell others what to do.  Now, she prioritizes having their buy-in to the vision and promoting their self-development by asking coaching questions and having them think into their success.

Her favorite example is a supervisor that she has worked with for eight years.  She wanted to be an assistant manager but never seemed to get the promotion.

Maggie began coaching her on leadership principles, and, after only a year, she knew she was ready.  When this supervisor got the assistant manager job, Maggie felt incredible joy. “I saw my reflection in her,” she says.  “Everything I was learning was now being transmitted to someone else.”

In fact, since Maggie joined the John Maxwell Team, her own team has truly flourished, with three part-timers moving to full time, two full-timers moving to lead positions, two leads moving to supervisory positions, and two supervisors awaiting the outcome of interviews for positions as Assistant Store Managers.

As far as her own work, Maggie has been in talks with her District Manager about opportunities to help coach employees within her organization on a wider scale.  Her side business as a coach and speaker is thriving. She has played the leadership game four times at $1000 per game, has five coaching clients, has led seven masterminds, and has held six paid speaking engagements.

To those looking to grow with the John Maxwell Team, she says, “Be ready for a shift.”

“You will never be the same again.  You will be someone totally different.  Someone you will fall in love with all over again.  Someone who will be renewed, rejuvenated. You will become someone completely different, but someone even better than you used to be.  That’s the John Maxwell Team.”
