Prioritizing Your Passion
In today’s world it can be difficult to avoid stretching ourselves too thin. When we focus on too many responsibilities, relationships, and aspirations, we often find ourselves unable to excel in any particular area.
For Randy Stroman, setting priorities has always been a struggle. “There are so many things I want to do, and so many people I want to help, that I constantly must force myself to pull back, do less, but do that lesser amount with excellence.”
For over 32 years he’s followed John Maxwell and worked to expand his knowledge and influence.
So when Paul Martinelli and John were putting on a webinar in early 2012, Randy was excited to hear what they had to say. They introduced the John Maxwell Team and Randy found himself immediately interested in joining. “The opportunity to connect with John, use his influence to influence others in a positive way, that was not something I had to think about.”
At the time, Randy was struggling with his other priorities. His focus was primarily on his job and he struggled to better the situation. “Things at the company were not going well. I didn’t think diverting attention to something else was wise at the time.” Over the next few months, Randy watched things deteriorate. It seemed like the more he fought to make it better, the more challenging everything became.
As a leader, he knew that he could only grow his team and his company as much as he himself had grown. Randy took a step back from the situation and started to reevaluate his priorities. “I realized that unless I invested in myself, I would remain powerless to change the situation.” Determined to make a difference, Randy realigned his priorities and joined the John Maxwell Team.
Certified in February of 2013, Randy has continued to use his gift for leading others to live lives of significance.
“I am passionate about watching people get that ‘twinkle’ in their eye, when you realize they just unlocked something.” He strives to help the people he works with to utilize their influence to build healthy, productive relationships with the people in their lives.
Randy says living your best life is all about self-discovery. “Take in as much information as you can, and let the passion that is in you define your journey. Once you discover your purpose and tap into that passion, then work up a detailed plan and stick with it.”
