Ken Tarr – Annapolis, Maryland

Kenneth A. Tarr is a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps currently serving as the Special Projects Director at the U.S. Naval Academy for the Office of Admissions where he oversees 1,650 midshipmen working through the Annapolis, DC and Baltimore area on 54 different projects that accumulate over 26,000 hours of volunteer service. He has spent almost 3 years overseas deploying to Japan, Africa, Haiti and Iraq. During his time in Japan he coordinated all relief and recovery efforts out of Sendai Airport during Operation Tomodachi following Japan’s earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster. He graduated from US Naval Academy where he studied Ocean Engineering and has recently completed his Master’s Degree in Leadership Development from the University of Maryland. His personal awards include Top 10 winner of the John C. Maxwell Leadership Award, a Joint Commendation Medal, 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, a volunteer Service Medal and other personal and unit awards.
