Do It Afraid

Before she joined the John Maxwell Team, Monique Pearson was afraid to fail.

“I struggled with perfectionism,” she says. A detail oriented people-pleaser, she worried all the time about making sure that everything she did came out exactly like it was supposed to. Eventually, she was so focused on the details she couldn’t focus on her dreams.

Everything changed when she read John’s bestselling book, Failing Forward. “It taught me to redefine failure.” Soon, Monique was learning how to embrace her mistakes and instead of spending her time and energy avoiding them, she learned how to work with them. Inspired by this change in herself, she began to look for more opportunities to grow. When she started watching John’s Minute With Maxwell video series, she heard about his team and was immediately interested.

By March of 2013, Monique had joined and was immediately surprised by the support she received from everyone. “If I had to describe it in one word, I would say ‘family.’” Encouraged by her peers and mentors, she began to redefine her dreams within her own terms. “Sometimes,” she says, “the toughest decisions bring the most freedom.”

With a renewed confidence, Monique found the courage to to embrace the career path she’s always wanted. Through her certification, she’s begun to give to others what she has learned for herself. “I have this amazing ability to break things down and make them simple. I am helping women entrepreneurs build their online business so they can live the life they desire!”

When asked what advice she loves to give others, Monique says, “Do it. Do it afraid.”
