Changing Direction

In 2015, Vinodh Jeyaraj had a great job. As a manager, he earned a comfortable living driving his team to achieve results. Everything seemed like it was going the way he wanted until he started reading John Maxwell’s books.

“As part of my job I managed a lot of people and there was a time that I used to judge people on whether they were competent or incompetent. One day, I realized that their competence depends on the environment I provide them.”

That was when he realized he wanted to be a better leader.

A friend happened to tell Vinodh about the John Maxwell Team and within 24 hours he was signed up for certification. He expected to learn how to uplevel his leadership, but he did not expect to change his direction in life completely. At the International Maxwell Certification event in August of 2015, Vinodh was moved to redefine his purpose. “It was at my first certification when I wrote that October 31, 2015 would be my last day at my job.”

“I am originally from India,” Vinodh says. “I don’t have family living here and what I realized after my first IMC is that I came here to be a better leader and what I got was a family.” Since joining the John Maxwell Team, Vinodh has attended four certification events and plans to be a part of every event that he can.

“For me, the JMT is a charging station for my soul.”

Soon after leaving his former position, Vinodh began flexing his entrepreneurial muscles and was determined to build his own technology company. “My gift is the ability to see things from someone else’s heart. Even though there have been times that I’ve had the fear that I am being taken advantage of, I see that using that gift has given me a lot more.” With a new set of values in mind, Vinodh believes in utilizing strong leadership principles to build a company with a conscience.

Today, Vinodh continues to follow his dreams and live out his purpose. He says, “When you experience the taste of significance, you’ll never settle for success.”
