Technical Sergeant Thomas Otero was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and entered the Air Force in 2005. In his 11-year career, he held various leadership positions and has also deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Prior to his current position, Technical Sergeant Otero was the Consolidated Automated Support System Supervisor for the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron, Whiteman AFB, MO.

TSgt Otero is an Airman Leadership School Instructor for the 509th Force Support Squadron, Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. As an instructor, TSgt Otero is responsible for teaching the Air Forceês foundation level leadership training program. This entails delivering 1,100 hours of training for 300 Active, Guard, and Reserve students annually. He directly supports personnel, combat readiness and training missions of 20 B-2, 12 A-10, and 14 T-38 aircraft valued at $49 billion.

TSgt Otero has been awarded and decorated by receiving the 436th CES/MSG Airman of the Year, AFGSC Professional Development Team of the Year, the Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster among others.
